The Times - Introduction: blog task

 

1) What year was The Times founded and when did it start using the Times name?

The Times was founded in 1785. They started to use the Times name in 1788.

2) What content did John Walter suggest the paper would offer in the first edition?

They offerd ideas of politics and more serious topics.

They had also supported both New Labour and the Conservatives in recent times and supported Remain in the 2016 EU referendum.

The Times were brought by Rupert Murdoch in 1981. It is governed by a board of independence directors and a set of legal undertakings that protect the newspapers' editorial independence.

 The Times introduced digital subscription as their was a development in technology.

6) What was The Times named in 2018 by the Reuters Institute for Journalism at Oxford University?

The Times was named Britain's most trusted national newspaper.

The section on Editorial Standards says they take complaints about editorial content seriously. They commit to abiding by the Ipso rules and regulations and the Editors' code of practice that Ipso enforces.

They have they slogan type, very similar to BBC which is to ‘ educate, inform and inspire’ throughout the content they present or produce towards customers in there Newspapers.
